{"id":48,"date":"2008-03-22T13:40:40","date_gmt":"2008-03-22T19:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.totheeast.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/22\/more-desert-fun\/"},"modified":"2008-03-22T13:40:40","modified_gmt":"2008-03-22T19:40:40","slug":"more-desert-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.totheeast.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/more-desert-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"More Desert Fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.totheeast.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/dual-nissans.jpg\" style=\"float: left; margin-right: 3px\" alt=\"dual-nissans.jpg\" \/>Well, I did it.\u00a0 I took my new Xterra out to the dunes of Qatar.\u00a0 It was a blast, and the Xterra handled the sand extremely well.<\/p>\n<p>I went with several friends yesterday out to the desert for a good time of relaxing, playing on the dunes, and eating lamb.\u00a0 It was my second time to go out to the desert, and it was my first time to actually drive a car on the sand.\u00a0 I drove a four-wheeler on sand dunes in Cabo San Lucas, so I had an idea of how to drive without the traction of a hard surface.\u00a0 Obviously, a large vehicle is different than a four-wheeler, but the basics are the same:\u00a0 keep moving, and give it gas if you start to slow down.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m really looking forward to more trips to the desert with current and future friends.\u00a0 When the weather starts getting hotter, we&#8217;ll go later in the day and spend the night.\u00a0 That will be tons of fun.<\/p>\n<p>Check out pics of this trip <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jhizzle\/sets\/72157604200195207\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also made an album dedicated to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jhizzle\/sets\/72157604197336064\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dwight and his travels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow is Easter, and I am taking the day off to celebrate Christ&#8217;s victory over death and the life He has given me.\u00a0 What a great thing to celebrate!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, I did it.\u00a0 I took my new Xterra out to the dunes of Qatar.\u00a0 It was a blast, and the Xterra handled the sand extremely well.
