{"id":252,"date":"2010-08-03T23:21:20","date_gmt":"2010-08-03T20:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.totheeast.com\/blog\/?p=252"},"modified":"2010-08-03T23:21:20","modified_gmt":"2010-08-03T20:21:20","slug":"in-the-news-august-3-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.totheeast.com\/blog\/2010\/08\/in-the-news-august-3-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"In the News &#8211; August 3, 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deportation order for Filipina<\/p>\n<p>A Filipina beautician, who was charged with maintaining illicit relations with an \u201cunknown\u201d man, has been sentenced in absentia to a year\u2019s suspended imprisonment and immediate deportation.<\/p>\n<p>The woman, 29, landed in trouble when she arrived at Hamad Hospital to give birth in January 2009 and failed to produce her marriage certificate.<\/p>\n<p>She told the interrogators that her \u201chusband\u201d had visited Qatar and stayed here for one month (March) in 2008 and that he was the father of the baby. When she failed to provide documents to support her claims, she was presented to the court.<\/p>\n<p>A policeman testified that the Filipina had fled the hospital after a few days of delivery, leaving her baby behind.
